Sensitization of Member States’ national emergency platforms on the importance of codifying national standards/instruments for the protection of civilians

Activity:

  1. Advocacy on the Codification of National Standards/ Instruments for the Protection of Civilians (2 Missions)
  2. Capacity Building Workshops on Use of Military Assets in Emergencies (2 Meetings)

Programme 2: Development and Strengthening of Institutions for Managing and Responding to Humanitarian Challenges

Outcome:

National platforms possess the required capabilities for managing and responding to humanitarian challenges

Activity:

  1. Capacity Building for Member States’ National Platforms (2 Meetings)

 

Programme 3: Enhancing the Capacities of Social Actors in Responding to Humanitarian Issues

Outcome:

Leaders of national platforms are equipped to manage humanitarian disasters and management training in Member States is institutionalized

Activity:

  1. Leadership Training on the Management of Humanitarian Disasters (2 Meetings)
  2. Advocacy for the Promotion of Workplace Safety in Formal and Informal Sectors (2 Visits)

Programme 4: Ensuring that Member States and Citizens Comply with International Humanitarian Law as a Means of Conflict Prevention

Outcome:

Regional Plan of Action on International Human Rights Law (IHL) is developed and agreed upon

Activity:

  1. Advocacy Meeting to Develop and Implement a Regional Plan of Action on IHL

Programme 5: Enhancing National and Regional Capacities for Response to Humanitarian Concerns

Outcome:

Number of M. States with National Monitoring Mechanisms identified

Activity:

  1. Assessment Mission to Determine the Number of National Monitoring Mechanisms Available in the region
  2. Lessons learned Workshop to Strengthen EERT (1 Workshop)
  3. Establishment of ECOWAS Logistical Depot
