Programme 1: Strengthening of Cross-Border Cooperation

Outcome:

Capacity building support on cross-border pilot projects are institutionalized

Activity:

  1. Annual capacity building support subvention to ECOWAS Cross-border Control (CBC) pilot projects
  2. Coordination, Networking and Partnership Building: Field visit, zonal coordination and exchange with   technical partners – ECOWAS CBC pilot project sites and agencies; AU- R.E.CS/ E.U CBC partner agencies /projects
  3. Institutional Arrangements, Legal Frameworks and   Operational Modalities for CBC Development:   National workshops on ECOWAS CBC
  4. Institutional Arrangements Legal Frameworks and Operational Modalities for CBC Development:   Regional workshops on elaboration of ECOWAS CBC directive and programme development
  5. Research and Documentation on CBC Development Issues: Task force meetings on ECOWAS CBC   programme review and development – study on programme development and funding

Programme 2: The Facilitation of Migration Across the Region

Outcome:

The harmonization of travel documents for ECOWAS Member States

Activity:

  1. Facilitation of the adoption of harmonised travel documents for the region by Member states (Passport and Identification Card)
  2. Establish information centres at designated borders to collate data on migration across the region
  3. Inauguration of ECOWAS monitoring units (operatives) in member states (to ensure monitoring and enforcement of the Provisions of the protocol)
  4. Harmonise immigration policies and procedures across member states

Programme 3: Sensitization and Awareness Creation, Build and Enhance Capacity in ECOWAS – Relevant Institutions and Agencies, Networking and Partnership Building

Outcome:

Regional Media Network are fully sensitized and equipped to effectively disseminate cases of migrants’ harassment across borders in the region

Activity:

  1. Strengthen the capacity of the Regional Media Network to enhance the dissemination of Migration related news and ensure the reporting of cases of harassment of Migrants along ECOWAS highway.
  2. Awareness Creation on the Tenets of the Free Movement Protocol
  3. Strengthening the capacity of security operatives at the border posts on tenets of the free movement protocol. (customs, immigration, police, gendarmerie)
  4. Entrenchment of the provisions of the Protocol on Free Movement of Persons in the training institutions of operatives in Member States.

Programme 4: Promote awareness of Tourism in the Region

Outcome:

The development of a Regional Standard/Benchmark on Tourism

Activity:

  1. Harmonisation of tourism policies and procedures in the region
