Programme 1: Baseline Analysis on Compliance of National Institutions with the ECOWAS Supplementary Protocol and Paris Principles

Outcome: Effective and result-oriented support package to strengthen the capacity of NNHRIs

Activity:

  1. Gap Analysis for Ten (10) -Member Institutions of National Network of Human Rights Institutions (NNHRI)

Programme 2: Capacity Building Programme for operational staff of National Human Rights Commissions in Member States and Civil Society Actors

Outcome:

Facilitate Needs-Based Training and capacity building programmes aimed at enhancing NNHRIs professionalism

Activity:

  1. Mapping and Assessment of Human Rights Training Institutions in West Africa
  2. Training and Capacity Needs Assessment (TCNA) for NHRIs and the Civil Society

Programme 3: Popularization of ECOWAS Human Rights Norms and Ensuring Compliance with Regional Standards on Human Rights

Outcome:

Enhanced domestication and implementation of regional human rights standards

Activity:

  1. Organize Good Office Visits to Five (5) Fragile Institutions and/or Post Conflict States. 2. Support for CSOs Projects to Implement Human Rights activities in line with the Supplementary Protocol and Free Movement Protocol

Programme 4: Targeted Training and Capacity Building to enhance rights of the marginalized and excluded

Outcome:

Enhanced integration, stability and development through a rights-based approach

Activity:

  1. Organize Train-the-Trainer Programme on ‘Gender Violence’ for civil society groups
  2. Organize Sensitization Workshop on ‘Community Migration Rights’ for selected civil society groups and Member States’ Institutions
  3. Organize Four Train the Trainer Workshops for Security and Para-Military Forces at the Operational and Tactical Levels on human rights laws and Conventions
  4. Organize Train the Trainer Programmes (2) for Regional Experts and Civil Society Groups on Implementation of the Child Rights Acts and Conventions

Programme 5: Strengthen the processes of human rights reporting by Member States

Outcome:

Contribute to the effectiveness of human rights reporting by National Human Rights Commissions in Member States

Activity:

  1. Publishing and Circulation of Reporting Manual/ Procedure
  2. Workshop for NNHRI on the use of ECOWAS Human Rights Reporting Manual/ Procedure

Programme 6: Strengthen Capacity of Directorate of Political Affairs in the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights

Outcome:

Increased capacity by ECOWAS to facilitate the protection and promotion of human rights

Activity:

  1. Recruitment of Two (2) Human Rights Officers (P3) at the Directorate of Political Affairs
  2. Recruitment of One (1) Programme Assistant at the Directorate of Political Affairs (G5)
